Summary

Agriculture in Australia is vast and diverse, with farms spanning thousands of hectares. My immersion in this world began thanks to a unique opportunity created by the COVID-19 pandemic. With border closures leading to labor shortages, large farms were in need of workers, and that’s how I found my place as an agricultural driver.

I worked on farms ranging from 4000 to 100 00 hectares. My days were filled with various tasks, from operating harvesters and 24-meter seeders to handling self-propelled and towed sprayers. Versatility was essential, and I was involved in all stages of the farming process, from field preparation to harvesting.

Many people ask how I found these opportunities. Word of mouth, websites like Gumtree, Facebook groups, and my strong English skills were key. Growing up in an agricultural family also contributed to my interest in the field. Despite having limited experience at first, the high demand for labor during the pandemic opened doors for people like me.

Beyond technical skills, my experience as an agricultural driver in Australia allowed me to meet amazing people and discover the true essence of rural life. Working alongside passionate and dedicated farmers was an invaluable life lesson.
